Drone research undertaken by Kent academic Dr Alan McKenna was referenced at the launch of a debate on the civilian use of drones by Baroness O’Cathain in the House of Lords last night.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whilst launching the debate, Baroness O\u2019Cathain quoted research\u00a0by Dr McKenna that found \u2018there had been more than 400 calls made to the police regarding incidents involving drones over the last two years.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

The report on which the debate was based, \u2018Civilian Use of Drones in the EU\u2019, was prepared by the European Union Committee and published on 5 March. It included <\/span>written evidence<\/span><\/a> submitted by Dr McKenna, an Associate Lecturer at Kent Law School. Dr McKenna subsequently attended the House of Lords to discuss the report in more detail in a seminar with fellow evidence contributors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr McKenna’s research interests include the information society, communication law, information law, media, human rights, information technology law, international commercial law, data protection, privacy and asbestos-related issues.<\/span><\/p>\n
