The Royal Historical Society, based at University College London, is one of the UK&#8217;s most prestigious learned societies for history. It advocates for historians and the value of history, fosters connections across historical communities, and supports historical enquiry through funding and publishing.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>His monograph,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/books\/adventures-in-childhood\/BB935BD844DFA54D1C4C353612E774C4\"><i>Adventures in Childhood: Intellectual Property, Imagination and the Business of Play<\/i><\/a>\u00a0(Cambridge University Press, 2022), co-authored with Kathy Bowrey, has been widely recognised for its originality and interdisciplinary contribution to understanding intellectual property, culture, and consumption (<a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1111\/1468-2230.12902\"><i>Modern Law Review<\/i><\/a>\u00a02024: 1384-1388;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsanz.com.au\/common\/Uploaded%20files\/IP%20Forum%20-%20Journal\/IPSANZ%20Journal%20Issue%20131%20March%202023.pdf\">\u00a0<i>Intellectual Property Forum<\/i><\/a>\u00a02023: 62-65).\u00a0The book examined the rise of merchandising during the twentieth century. It has been described by reviewers as \u201ca profoundly original book that combines exquisite archival work and acute social insight\u201d, \u201c[a book] that quite radically changes our understanding of how intellectual property function, and to what effect\u201d and \u201ca captivating story of how law, media and culture has interacted to construct the subjectivities of child, family, consumer\u201d.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>He has also edited and co-edited various influential volumes in the field, including one that brought together the world\u2019s leading experts on intellectual property history:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbury.com\/uk\/landmark-cases-in-intellectual-property-law-9781509935109\/\"><i>Landmark Cases in Intellectual Property Law<\/i><\/a><i>\u00a0<\/i>(Bloomsbury, 2017) and the first book on the links between intellectual property law and nature:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/book\/51647?login=true\"><i>Intellectual Property and the\u00a0Design of Nature<\/i><\/a><i>\u00a0<\/i>(Oxford University Press, 2023) [co-edited with Brad Sherman].
