{"id":8914,"date":"2026-05-04T17:45:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T16:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=8914"},"modified":"2026-05-04T18:29:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T17:29:11","slug":"professor-naomi-creutzfeldt-appointed-to-the-civil-justice-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/professor-naomi-creutzfeldt-appointed-to-the-civil-justice-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor Naomi Creutzfeldt appointed to the Civil Justice Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lord Chancellor has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/seven-members-appointed-to-the-civil-justice-council\">approved the appointment<\/a> of seven members of the Civil Justice Council (CJC) for 3 years, including academic member <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-law-school\/people\/4600\/creutzfeldt-naomi\">Professor Naomi Creutzfeldt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The CJC is an advisory body established under the Civil Procedure Act 1997. It reviews the civil justice system and advises the judiciary, government and rule-makers on reform, accessibility, fairness and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>Appointments are made by the Secretary of State for Justice and regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments, in line with the Governance Code on Public Appointments.<\/p>\n<p>Naomi Creutzfeldt is Professor of Law and Society at the University of Kent. Her work focuses on administrative and civil justice systems, including alternative dispute resolution, access to justice and consumer protection.<\/p>\n<p>Naomi explains that she is &#8216;delighted to have been appointed as the academic member of the CJC.
