{"id":8212,"date":"2025-02-19T21:47:30","date_gmt":"2025-02-19T21:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=8212"},"modified":"2025-02-19T21:47:30","modified_gmt":"2025-02-19T21:47:30","slug":"kent-law-school-professor-featured-on-figure-it-podcast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/kent-law-school-professor-featured-on-figure-it-podcast\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Law School Professor featured on Figure It Podcast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent Law School\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-law-school\/people\/1151\/perry-kessaris-facss-fdrs-sfhea-amanda\">Professor Amanda Perry-Kessaris<\/a>\u00a0recently appeared on an <a href=\"https:\/\/islandtalks.fm\/podcast\/figure-it-episode-17-opening-up-cyprob-imaginations-with-an-interspecies-council-18-2-2025\/\">episode of Figure It<\/a>, a podcast which provides economic, political and social analysis on Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>On the podcast, Amanda and host Fiona Mullen discussed a workshop which they co-organised with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cypdc.org\/\">Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Centre<\/a> (CPDC) in November 2024, in the UN-controlled buffer zone in Nicosia, Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop grew out of Amanda\u2019s research into how \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/amandaperrykessaris.org\/2021\/05\/10\/forthcoming-doing-sociolegal-research-in-design-mode\/\">designerly ways<\/a>\u2019 (such as making ideas visible and tangible, and emphasising experimentation) can be used to <a href=\"https:\/\/eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpapers.ssrn.com%2Fsol3%2Fpapers.cfm%3Fabstract_id%3D4815052&amp;data=05%7C02%7CA.Perry-Kessaris%40kent.ac.uk%7C1e289b335d374970eda608dd495fb7c3%7C51a9fa563f32449aa7213e3f49aa5e9a%7C0%7C0%7C638747397659307694%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=YbcFVU3G%2FD168OLaJI29eaoK2362zVDAEA8Qbb%2BvbCA%3D&amp;reserved=0\">nurture imagination in deliberative settings such as citizens\u2019 assemblies<\/a>. It was funded by a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/slsa.ac.uk\/index.php\/news\/socio-legal-publications-2?id=400\">Socio-Legal Studies Association Impact Grant<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the podcast Amanda and Fiona discussed how they used designerly ways to prompt and facilitated their civil society participants to engage in knowledge-sharing and experimentation with around the question: <a href=\"https:\/\/amandaperrykessaris.org\/2024\/11\/03\/what-if-a-citizens-assembly-were-to-design-a-future-cyprus-peace-process\/\">What if a citizens\u2019 assembly were to design a future Cyprus peace process<\/a>?
