{"id":7749,"date":"2024-01-04T10:01:34","date_gmt":"2024-01-04T10:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=7749"},"modified":"2024-01-04T10:02:52","modified_gmt":"2024-01-04T10:02:52","slug":"kent-law-school-professor-amanda-perry-kessaris-elected-fellow-of-the-academy-of-social-sciences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/kent-law-school-professor-amanda-perry-kessaris-elected-fellow-of-the-academy-of-social-sciences\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Law School Professor Amanda Perry-Kessaris elected Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent Law School <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/1151\/perry-kessaris-facss-sfhea-amanda\">Professor Amanda Perry-Kessaris<\/a>\u00a0has been elected Fellow of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acss.org.uk\/\">Academy of Social Sciences<\/a>,\u00a0the representative body of the social sciences in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>The Academy is devoted to highlighting and championing the contribution of social sciences to all aspects of life, especially in government, business and education.<\/p>\n<p>The Academy\u2019s Fellowship\u00a0is made up of distinguished individuals from academic, public and private sectors, who have made a substantial contribution to wider social science, to policy or to practice.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Perry-Kessaris has contributed to the development and promotion of sociologically-informed approaches to conceptualising and investigating the economic lives of law (Economic Sociology of Law), which represents an important alternative to economic approaches to law.\u00a0 She has also pioneered the application of design-based methods to enhance sociolegal research, including to prompt and facilitate interdisciplinarity and social impact; and contributed to the development and promotion of Legal Design more broadly as an emergent field of thinking and practice, including in relation to legal pedagogy and legal activism.<\/p>\n<p>Her publications include the monographs\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/amandaperrykessaris.org\/2021\/05\/10\/forthcoming-doing-sociolegal-research-in-design-mode\/\"><i>Doing Sociolegal Research in Design Mode<\/i><\/a><i>\u00a0<\/i>(2021) and\u00a0<i>Global Business, Local Law: The Indian legal system as a communal resource in foreign investment relations<\/i>\u00a0(2008); and a collection, edited with Emily Allbon, on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/designinlegaleducation.net\/book-home.html\"><i>Design in Legal Education<\/i><\/a>\u00a0(2022).
