‘Fify Years of Feminism at Kent<\/a>‘ is a 50th anniversary project organised by academics from the faculty of Social Sciences (including Kent Law School), to mark the important role Kent has played in the development of academic feminism.<\/p>\n

The project, one of a number marking the University of Kent’s 50th anniversary, will celebrate past achievements at Kent, including the establishment of the first taught programme in Women’s Studies in this country.<\/p>\n

Project co-ordinators, Senior Lecturer in Social Science Dr Anne Logan and Kent Law School Teaching Assistant Serena Natile are keen to focus on the present and the future.<\/p>\n

Serena Natile said: ‘There will be a panel discussion (involving academics, students and activists) on ‘Feminism: where are we now’ and a conference on Gender, Austerity and Wealth organised by Dr Simone Wong from Kent Law School. There will also be a series of feminist film screenings.<\/p>\n

‘We hope to publish a webpage, or pages, which will give details of all Kent academic and research staff who have undertaken research in the fields of gender and\/or sexuality and\/or feminism.<\/p>\n

‘If you think that your research currently falls, or has fallen in the past, into this general category, we would be most pleased to hear from you.’<\/p>\n

Those interested in getting involved in the project are asked to complete an online form<\/a> by 1 September 2014.<\/p>\n
