{"id":652,"date":"2015-06-09T14:35:13","date_gmt":"2015-06-09T13:35:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=652"},"modified":"2020-03-20T23:12:03","modified_gmt":"2020-03-20T23:12:03","slug":"gain-insight-into-work-of-kent-law-clinic-via-social-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/gain-insight-into-work-of-kent-law-clinic-via-social-media\/","title":{"rendered":"Gain insight into work of Kent Law Clinic via social media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A unique insight into pro-bono legal practice undertaken by staff and students at Kent Law Clinic can now be gained via social media.<\/p>\n<p>The Kent Law Clinic aims to provide a public service for local people who need legal advice but cannot afford to pay for it whilst enhancing the education of students at Kent Law School through direct engagement in legal practice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentlawclinic\/\">Clinical<\/a>, the new Kent Law Clinic blog offers an opportunity to learn more about the way in which staff and students engage with specific cases.<\/p>\n<p>Already on the blog is an overview of a case taken on by the Clinic on behalf of residents in Westgate-on-Sea who sought help with their bid to secure <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentlawclinic\/sample-page\/\">village green status<\/a> for a field in the heart of their local community.<\/p>\n<p>Another post summarises how Clinic students successfully secured <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentlawclinic\/sample-page\/\">public access rights<\/a> to three woodland footpaths and a bridleway for villagers in Adisham.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter users can also follow <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KentLawClinic\">@KentLawClinic<\/a> for regular updates on the work of the Clinic (and for links to the latest posts on the blog).<\/p>\n<p>Work undertaken by the team at Kent Law Clinic has been recognised with numerous awards over the years, most recently with The Lawyer Award for \u2018Ethical Initiative of the Year \u2018in 2014. The Clinic had previously been shortlisted, alongside many magic circle firms, in 2010, 2012 and 2013. The Clinic\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/clinic\/teams\/public_access_to_land.html\">Access to Land project<\/a> gained the LawWorks Attorney General\u2019s Award for \u2018Best New pro bono Activity\u2019 in 2012 and staff and students collected the Queen\u2019s Anniversary Prize from the Queen at Buckingham Palace in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Students at Kent Law School are encouraged to get involved in the work of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/clinic\/index.html\">Kent Law Clinic<\/a> throughout the course of their studies.
