{"id":6505,"date":"2021-07-14T14:28:50","date_gmt":"2021-07-14T13:28:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=6505"},"modified":"2021-11-30T12:23:20","modified_gmt":"2021-11-30T12:23:20","slug":"president-of-the-supreme-court-to-visit-kent-law-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/president-of-the-supreme-court-to-visit-kent-law-school\/","title":{"rendered":"President of the Supreme Court to visit Kent Law School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">The President of the UK Supreme Court, The Right Hon The Lord Reed of Allermuir, will be coming to Kent on Monday 15 November 2021 to meet law students and to explore the Canterbury campus.<\/p>\n<p>Lord Reed accepted an invitation from Kent Law School\u2019s Director of Lawyering Skills, Darren Weir, following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/news\/6220\/innovative-programme-of-lawyering-skills-will-culminate-with-moot-final-before-supreme-court-president\">final of this year\u2019s internal mooting competition<\/a>. Kent mooters had been due to compete in person at the Supreme Court in London in April 2020, but plans were postponed due to the COVID pandemic. The moot final was eventually held before Lord Reed online, on 27 April 2021 instead.<\/p>\n<p>Darren said: \u2018Lord Reed, who lives in Kent, has always wanted to visit the University\u2019s campus to have a look around and to see the fantastic facilities the Law School has to offer.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>On the day of his visit to Kent, Lord Reed will be met by the University\u2019s Vice Chancellor, Professor Karen Cox. A guided tour of the campus will include a visit to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/facilities\">Wigoder Law Building<\/a> which is home to Kent\u2019s award-winning law clinic.
