{"id":630,"date":"2015-06-01T13:05:32","date_gmt":"2015-06-01T12:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=630"},"modified":"2021-03-26T13:42:45","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T13:42:45","slug":"graduate-research-conference-at-kent-law-school-on-89-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/graduate-research-conference-at-kent-law-school-on-89-june\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduate Research Conference at Kent Law School on 8\/9 June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Postgraduate students will critically explore the ways in which research can challenge forms of power and injustice at Kent Law School\u2019s third annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/postgraduate\/taught\/taught-student-experience.html?tab=llm-conference\">Graduate Research Conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The conference, \u2018Dialogues and Networks: Responses and Challenges to Power and Injustice\u2019, will be held at Eliot College on the University of Kent\u2019s Canterbury campus on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 June.<\/p>\n<p>Kent LLM students and postgraduate research students from across the disciplines of law, humanities and social sciences, will deliver presentations in a series of five panels, enabling them to receive insightful and immediate feedback on their work in the ensuing lively and analytical debates. This year\u2019s panel discussions are themed around:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Global Injustices and Responses<\/li>\n<li>Responses to Financial Crises and Corporate Power<\/li>\n<li>Beginning and End of Life Issues<\/li>\n<li>International Conflict.<\/li>\n<li>Gender and Sexuality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the conference, Professor Indira Carr from the University of Surrey will deliver the annual Clive Schmitthoff Lecture. Her talk will examine how corporate social responsibility can be used as a tool to combat corruption. Opportunities for networking, including a conference dinner and an exhibition of academic posters, are also an integral part of the event, offering visitors a chance to participate in ongoing discussions about contemporary social injustice.<\/p>\n<p>More details about the format of the event can be found in the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/files\/2015\/06\/Programme-for-Dialogue-and-Networks_8-9-June.pdf\">Conference programme.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>All students are welcome to attend.
