th<\/sup> out of only 28 UK law schools that made the list of top 200 institutions globally.<\/p>\nThe School has featured among the best 200 law schools in the world since QS began ranking institutions by their subject areas in 2011. In the latest QS rankings, the School has risen from its position within the lower quartile of top 200 institutions in 2014.<\/p>\n
Rankings are based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact with QS conducting surveys of more than 85,000 academics and 41,000 employers to determine this year\u2019s results. A total of 3,551 universities and 894 institutions were evaluated in total.<\/p>\n
The news comes in a year which has seen the School enjoy its best ever performance in the subject tables for law. Already ranked 10th in the Times Good University Guide <\/em>2015, the School is also ranked 14th in the Guardian University Guide<\/em> 2015.<\/p>\nIn the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, Kent Law School is ranked 8th in the UK for research intensity. Almost all (99%) of the School\u2019s research was judged to be of international quality with 79% judged as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. The REF, an independent survey of UK universities, also ranks the School 7th for research power with more than a third of the School\u2019s research being given the highest 4* rating.<\/p>\n
Kent Law School also achieved excellent results in the latest National Student Survey (NSS) with 93% of final year undergraduate students reporting that they were satisfied overall and confirming that they continue to be amongst the most satisfied students in the UK.<\/p>\n
Students have been been achieving recognition this year for their skills in mooting, mediation and client interviewing by competing at both a regional and national level. In March a team of law students won the title of best student negotiators in the UK at the National Negotiation Competition and will be representing England at the International Negotiation Competition in Dublin.<\/p>\n
Kent\u2019s Law Clinic, the oldest in the UK, is already well recognised, having won numerous awards, the most recent of which was the Ethical Initiative of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2014. The Clinic and its students are routinely shortlisted for LawWorks Attorney General\u2019s Awards, and (amongst other successes) were awarded the LawWorks Attorney General\u2019s Award 2012 for the Best New Pro Bono Activity for the Clinic’s Access to Land project. In 2007 the Clinic was awarded the Queen\u2019s Anniversary Prize, with staff and students from the Clinic collecting the award from the Queen at Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n
