Kent Law student Meshaal Choudhary has been shortlisted for the Target Jobs Law Undergraduate of the Year<\/a> award.<\/p>\n

Second year Law LLB student Meshaal is one of ten UK Law students who have made it through to the final stage of the annual competition. The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held in Canary Wharf, London on 24 April.<\/p>\n

The competition, sponsored by leading global law firm, Mayer Brown, seeks to find an \u2018outstanding law undergraduate\u2019 who can demonstrate a mix of personal skills, career motivation and an excellent academic record.<\/p>\n

Meshaal participated in an assessment centre at the weekend after previously completing three online tests; a situational judgement test, OPQ test and an inductive reasoning test.<\/p>\n

Meshaal said: \u2018Every opportunity you get comes from the choices you make, and the decision to apply for the Law Undergraduate of the Year Award has opened up a breadth of opportunities that I am extremely pleased to have\u00a0experienced. Delivering a presentation at Mayer Brown was a phenomenal experience, both for professional development and personal achievement, and it has been a privilege to represent\u00a0the University of\u00a0Kent and the Law School in the competition.’<\/p>\n

Jayne Instone, the Law School’s Employability and Career Development Officer, who supported Meshaal through the application process, said: ‘I am delighted to hear that Meshaal has been shortlisted for the Law Student of the Year award.\u00a0 Reaching this stage of the selection process is well deserved and a perfect recognition of her efforts to develop the skills and qualities she needs for a successful career in law (or elsewhere). Meshaal is an active student who seeks out opportunities to challenge herself which will serve her well in the future. I wish her every success in this competition.’<\/p>\n

The winner of the competition will gain a place on Mayer Brown’s three-week Summer Vacation Scheme, including accommodation allowance and an Apple iPad.<\/p>\n
