{"id":3911,"date":"2019-02-11T11:58:29","date_gmt":"2019-02-11T11:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=3911"},"modified":"2019-02-11T12:11:38","modified_gmt":"2019-02-11T12:11:38","slug":"apply-now-for-postgraduate-taught-scholarships-in-law-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/apply-now-for-postgraduate-taught-scholarships-in-law-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply now for postgraduate taught scholarships in Law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students applying to begin their studies of the Kent LLM at Canterbury in September 2019 or January 2020 can apply now for scholarships.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/327\/law\">Kent LLM<\/a>\u00a0is a taught Master&#8217;s in Law open to law and non-law graduates. The programme enables you to broaden and deepen your knowledge and understanding of law by specialising in one or more different areas, according to your career interests and aspirations. There are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/postgraduate\/taught\/index.html\">nine pathways<\/a> to choose from and the innovative nature of the programme means you can leave your choice of pathway open until after you arrive, with your specialism being determined by the modules you select.<\/p>\n<p>Funding options include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Taught Master&#8217;s Overseas Scholarship:\u00a0<\/strong>Applications for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/scholarships\/search\/FN37MAOVER02\">Taught Master&#8217;s Overseas Scholarship<\/a>\u00a0close on Monday 18 March 2019. All scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence. The scholarship covers tuition fees at the full overseas rate (\u00a315,200 in 2018\/19) along with living expenses (equivalent to \u00a314,777 in 2018\/19). All overseas applicants to the Kent LLM programme at the Canterbury campus are eligible to apply. Applications are assessed competitively with the sole criteria for the granting of the scholarship being the proven academic merit of the candidate. Students who are successful in their application for scholarships will be considered Kent LLM Scholars and will have the opportunity to act as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/2018\/12\/11\/meet-our-kent-llm-ambassadors\/\">LLM Ambassadors<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kent LLM Student Awards:\u00a0<\/strong>Three\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/scholarships\/search\/FN37LLMTKN02\">Kent LLM Student Awards<\/a>\u00a0are available to support students who are from or who have studied an undergraduate degree in Kenya, Nigeria and Thailand. Eligible students will be awarded \u00a32,500 as an automatic tuition fee discount.\u00a0The University will assess eligibility for the award after an application for entry to the Kent LLM has been submitted. No further application for the award is required.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kent LLM First Class Honours Scholarships:\u00a0<\/strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/scholarships\/search\/FN37LLMFCH02\">Kent LLM First Class Honours Scholarship<\/a>\u00a0supports excellent students who wish to pursue postgraduate study at Kent Law School in the academic year 2019-20 by providing them with a 50% tuition fee discount. The Scholarship is open to all students who have achieved a First in an undergraduate degree in any discipline awarded by the University of Kent or in an undergraduate degree in law awarded by Canterbury Christ Church University. The University will assess eligibility for the award after an application for entry to the Kent LLM has been submitted. To be considered, applicants must submit a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/files\/2019\/02\/fundingapplication.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kent Law School Postgraduate Funding application form<\/a>\u00a0to <a href=\"mailto:klspgfunding@kent.ac.uk\">klspgfunding@kent.ac.uk\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; the deadlines for overseas students are: 31 July 2019 for September 2019 entry; and 18 November 2019 for January 2020 entry. The deadlines for home students are: 31 August 2019 for September 2019 entry; and 30 November 2019 for January 2020 entry.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Graduate School Scholarship:\u00a0<\/strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/scholarships\/search\/FNADGRASCH02\">Graduate School Scholarship<\/a> provides a \u00a31,000 reduction in tuition fees. It is awarded to 2019 University of Kent Graduates who earn a Bachelor&#8217;s degree with honours and register for a postgraduate degree at Kent by 01 October 2019. There is no need to make a separate application. The tuition fee reduction will be provided to all eligible 2019 graduates on registration.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Loyalty discount &#8211; exclusively for Kent graduates:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Kent is pleased to recognise the family and personal loyalty shown by registration on multiple degrees by siblings, children of alumni and spouses\/civil partners studying together or alumni studying for additional degrees. The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/scholarships\/search\/FNADLOYDIS02\"> Loyalty discount<\/a>\u00a0provides a discount of 10% of the first year\u00b4s tuition fee on registration and payment of tuition fees.\u00a0Full details on eligibility can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/finance-student\/fees\/loyaltydiscount.html\">online<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; the deadline for applications for September starters is 31 December.
