A new book edited by Dr Thanos Zartaloudis brings together contributions from new and established legal thinkers for a critical, interdisciplinary exploration of contemporary legal thought.<\/span><\/p>\n

Law and Philosophical Theory Critical Intersections<\/i><\/a><\/span> <\/i>(Rowman, 2018) particularly examines the relationship of legal thought to its engagement with continental philosophy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The collection explores a range of topics including: the relationship between law,\u00a0philosophy\u00a0and political theology; law and ecology; matter and legal technologies; contemporary governmentality; law\u2019s relationship to violence; the so-called anti-juridicalism of post-1968 French theory; the normativity of social images; and responses to a time of perpetual crisis management.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his review of the book, Professor Iain MacKenzie from Kent\u2019s Centre for Critical Thought says: \u2018In this timely collection of new and established scholars from across the world and from a variety of related disciplines, the problem of what we mean by \u2018the law\u2019 is held carefully in suspension so that it can be thought anew. Dr Zartaloudis<\/a><\/span> is a Reader in Legal Theory and History at Kent Law School. \u00a0He is Co-Director of\u00a0Kent\u2019s Centre for Interdisciplinary Spatial Studies<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/i>(KISS) and Co-Director of\u00a0the Centre for Research in Political Theology<\/span><\/a> <\/i>(Birkbeck Law School\/Kent Law School)<\/span><\/p>\n

He is also a Lecturer and Doctoral Advisor at the School of Architecture of the Architectural Association in London. He has published widely in philosophy and law and legal history and is Head Editor of\u00a0the Encounters in Law and Philosophy<\/i><\/span><\/a>\u00a0Book Series (Edinburgh University Press)<\/span><\/p>\n

His most recent book is The Birth of Nomos<\/i> (Edinburgh University Press, 2018). Previous edited collections include: Land Law and Urban Policy in Context: Essays in Honour of Prof. Patrick McAuslan<\/i> (Routledge\/Birbeck Law Press, 2016) and Agamben and Law: Edited Collection<\/i> (Routledge, 2015).<\/span><\/p>\n
