She will be presented with her \u00a3500 prize at a launch event for the University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/graduateschool\/news\/pgfestival.html\"><span class=\"s2\">Postgraduate Festival<\/span><\/a> on Monday 18 June.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In making their award, the prize panel praised Professor Alessandrini for her \u201cconsiderable contribution\u201d to postgraduate education and research. The panel proposes to nominate her for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-awards.co.uk\/2018\/en\/page\/categories\"><span class=\"s3\">Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Research Degree Supervisor in 2018<\/span><\/a> and will invite her to share her expertise with other academic staff members as part of supervisor development activities within the University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Head of Kent Law School Professor Toni Williams said: \u2018We&#8217;re delighted to see Donatella\u2019s outstanding work in leading and developing postgraduate research recognised in this way. Donatella has created new opportunities for research students to network with colleagues around the world and has enhanced student and supervisor training in ways that have greatly improved the overall postgraduate research student experience at Kent Law School.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/academic\/Alessandrini,_Donatella.html\">Professor Alessandrini<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> is Co-Director of Postgraduate Research at Kent Law School. She is also Co-Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/socril\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Social Critiques of Law Centre<\/span><\/a> (SoCriL).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Professor Alessandrini\u2019s research interests lie at the intersection of law and political economy, with a particular interest in development studies, critical trade and development literature, feminist political economy and political theory. Her book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Value-Making-in-International-Economic-Law-and-Regulation-Alternative\/Alessandrini\/p\/book\/9781138936744\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>Value Making in International Economic Law and Regulation<\/i><\/span><\/a> (Routledge, 2016) was <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/2016\/02\/09\/new-book-examines-contemporary-production-of-economic-value\/\"><span class=\"s2\">shortlisted<\/span><\/a> for the Hart-Socio-Legal Book Prize in 2017.
