{"id":3177,"date":"2018-05-29T14:18:19","date_gmt":"2018-05-29T13:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=3177"},"modified":"2021-03-26T13:34:01","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T13:34:01","slug":"kent-ranked-13th-in-uk-for-law-in-guardian-university-guide-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/kent-ranked-13th-in-uk-for-law-in-guardian-university-guide-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent ranked 13th in UK for law in Guardian University Guide 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent Law School is ranked 13<sup>th<\/sup> out of 100 UK law schools in <em>The Guardian University Guide<\/em> 2019, its highest ever position in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/education\/ng-interactive\/2018\/may\/29\/university-guide-2019-league-table-for-law\">subject table for law<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The latest rankings, published today, see the Law School rise two places from its position in last year\u2019s table and mean it is the fifth consecutive year the Law School has been ranked a top 20 national law school in the influential guide.<\/p>\n<p>Within this year\u2019s subject table for law, Kent is placed 10<sup>th<\/sup> in the UK for course satisfaction and 13<sup>th<\/sup> in the UK for satisfaction with teaching quality (this reflects the high levels of student satisfaction reported by final-year students at Kent Law School in the most recent <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/2017\/08\/15\/law-school-has-one-of-highest-student-satisfaction-rates-in-uk\/\">National Student Survey<\/a>). The Law School also continues to enjoy an excellent record for employability and is placed 14<sup>th<\/sup> in the UK for career progression with 86% of graduates finding graduate-level jobs (or being in further study at professional or HE level), within six months of graduation.<\/p>\n<p>The nine different measures used to calculate <em>The<\/em> <em>Guardian University Guide<\/em> rankings include a new \u2018continuation\u2019 score which measures the percentage of first-year students who go into second year. Strong levels of student support at Kent are reflected in a score of 95.6% for the Law School, placing it 14<sup>th<\/sup> in the UK for continuation.<\/p>\n<p>Kent Law School was recently ranked 18<sup>th<\/sup> in the UK in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/2018\/04\/25\/kent-18th-for-law-in-uk-in-complete-university-guide\/\">The Complete University Guide 2019<\/a><\/em> subject table for law and continues to hold a top 20 position in all three major UK league tables (currently also 14th in <em>The Times Good University Guide<\/em> 2018). It also has an excellent global reputation for law and, in addition to being ranked 50th in the <em>Times Higher Education<\/em> World University Rankings 2018, is among the top 100 law schools in the world in the Shanghai Rankings Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2017 and among the top 150 law schools in the QS World University Rankings 2017.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to its reputation as a leading UK law school with a distinctive &#8216;critical approach&#8217; to teaching law, the Law School has an international reputation for producing world-leading\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/research\/index.html\">research<\/a>. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, Kent Law School was ranked eighth in the UK for research intensity.
