The workshop was hosted by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/cecl\/index.html\">Kent Centre for European and Comparative Law<\/a>\u00a0at Reid Hall in Paris on 3 December 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Contributions to the volume by Kent Law School academics include a Preface by Professor Toni Williams, a chapter entitled \u2018Celebrating Many Geoffreys\u2019 by Dr Simone Glanert, a chapter entitled \u2018One Pattern of Juridical Migration at the Limits of Land (and Common) Law\u2019 by Dr Anne Bottomley and a chapter by Professor Samuel himself entitled \u2018On the Beach: What Can Beaches Reveal About Legal Reasoning and Categorisation?<\/p>\n<p>Additional contributors include John Bell (University of Cambridge), Sir Ross Cranston (London School of Economics and Political Science), Maks Del Mar (Queen Mary), Pierre Legrand (Sorbonne), P.G. Monateri (Universit\u00e0 di Torino), Horatia Muir Watt (Sciences Po), Fran\u00e7ois Ost (Universit\u00e9 Saint-Louis), Pascal Pichonnaz (Universit\u00e9 de Fribourg) and Franz Werro (Universit\u00e9 de Fribourg and Georgetown University Law Center).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/academic\/Glanert,_Simone.html\">Dr Simone Glanert<\/a>\u00a0is Reader in Law at Kent Law School where she teaches comparative law, French law and legal interpretation. She has repeatedly acted as visiting professor in Grenoble, Montreal, at the Sorbonne and at HBKU in Doha. Her research focuses on theoretical issues arising from the practice of comparison in the context of the globalization and Europeanization of laws. Having edited <em>Comparative Law \u2013 Engaging Translation<\/em> (Routledge, 2014) and <em>Law\u2019s Hermeneutics: Other Investigations<\/em> (Routledge, 2017; with Fabien Girard), she has also acted as guest editor for a special 2014 issue (on law and translation) of <em>The Translator<\/em>, a leading translation-studies journal published by Routledge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/academic\/Samuel,_Geoffrey.html\">Geoffrey Samuel<\/a> is Professor of Law at Kent. He holds doctoral degrees from the Universities of Cambridge, Maastricht and Nancy 2 (<em>honoris causa<\/em>). He has also held many visiting posts in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Professor Samuel continues to visit at Sciences Po Paris, at Aix-Marseille Universit\u00e9 and at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He is the author of many books, chapters and articles on contract, tort, remedies, legal reasoning, comparative law theory and method and legal epistemology. Professor Samuel\u2019s most recent books include <em>An Introduction to Comparative Law Theory and Method<\/em> (Hart, 2014) and <em>A Short Introduction to Judging and to Legal Reasoning<\/em> (Elgar, 2016).
