{"id":2727,"date":"2017-10-13T17:29:04","date_gmt":"2017-10-13T16:29:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=2727"},"modified":"2017-10-13T17:29:04","modified_gmt":"2017-10-13T16:29:04","slug":"professor-davina-cooper-made-fellow-of-academy-of-social-sciences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/professor-davina-cooper-made-fellow-of-academy-of-social-sciences\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor Davina Cooper made Fellow of Academy of Social Sciences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor of Law and Political Theory Davina Cooper has been made a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, the representative body of the social sciences in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>Fellows are drawn from academics, practitioners and policymakers across the social sciences who are recognised after an\u00a0extensive peer review process for the excellence and impact of their work\u00a0addressing some of society\u2019s most pressing issues.<\/p>\n<p>The Academy recognises that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/academic\/Cooper,_Davina.html\">Professor Cooper<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0internationally known for her work\u00a0on the British state\u2019s relationship to sexuality.<\/p>\n<p>Regarded as\u00a0a highly influential and visionary thinker, Professor Cooper was Director of the AHRC Research Centre for Law, Gender &amp; Sexuality. Her work on the state, re-imagining political concepts, and on everyday utopias has been published, cited, profiled, and translated across a wide range of disciplines, including socio-legal studies, geography, politics, anthropology, gender studies and education.
