Kent Law School is placed 50th in the world in a new subject ranking by Times Higher Education (THE) published today.<\/span><\/p>\n

The THE World University Rankings 2018 for law<\/span><\/a> judged 100 leading research-intensive law schools for teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.<\/span><\/p>\n

Within the ranking, Kent is 11<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> in the world for its international outlook and is one of only 13 UK law schools to make the top 50.<\/span><\/p>\n

Head of Kent Law School Professor Toni Williams said: \u2018This is fantastic news. It is enormously gratifying to see this recognition of the positive impact that colleagues are making through their innovative teaching and through the originality, significance and rigour of their interdisciplinary research projects. We pride ourselves on taking a critical approach to education and research at Kent and we are constantly encouraging staff and students to scrutinise conventional assumptions, to challenge global inequality and to question what the law does in the world.’<\/span><\/p>\n

Using a range of 13 performance indicators<\/span><\/a> grouped under five categories, the subject ranking takes into account: the learning environment; the volume, income and reputation of research; research influence; the international outlook of staff, students and research; and the level of innovation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the first time THE has ranked the top 100 universities globally for law \u2013 previously law was included under the banner of social sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kent is also ranked among the top 20 law schools in the country in all three major subject league tables, having most recently been placed 14<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0out of 100 in\u00a0The Times Good University Guide\u00a0<\/i>2018 (the\u00a0Law School is also\u00a0ranked 15<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0The Guardian University Guide<\/i>\u00a02018<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a019<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0The<\/i>\u00a0Complete University Guide<\/i>\u00a02018<\/span><\/a>.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Kent Law School was\u00a0ranked among the top 100 law schools in the world in both the QS World University Rankings 2017<\/a> and the Shanghai Rankings Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2017<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>It was\u00a0also ranked 15<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0for student satisfaction (out of 98 institutions teaching law) in this year’s\u00a0National Student Survey<\/span><\/a>\u00a0with just over 93% of final year undergraduate law students reporting overall satisfaction with their course at Kent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kent Law School is ranked 11th in the UK for career prospects (and 19th overall) in the Simply Law Jobs University Rankings 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n
