{"id":2355,"date":"2017-03-17T12:14:35","date_gmt":"2017-03-17T12:14:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=2355"},"modified":"2017-03-17T12:14:35","modified_gmt":"2017-03-17T12:14:35","slug":"cecil-event-to-highlight-careers-in-public-international-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/cecil-event-to-highlight-careers-in-public-international-law\/","title":{"rendered":"CeCIL event to highlight careers in public international law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students considering a career in public international law are invited to a special Careers\u2019 Panel event on Tuesday 28 March organised by Kent Law School\u2019s Centre for Critical International Law (CeCIL).<\/p>\n<p>Leading lawyers from the world of international law will talk informally about their careers and offer advice about internships and job applications before answering questions from the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Panel members comprise:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Iain Bryne<\/strong>: Head of Refugee and Migrants Team (acting), Amnesty International<\/li>\n<li><strong>Elizabeth Howe OBE<\/strong>: President International Legal Assistance Consortium<\/li>\n<li><strong>Professor Nick Grief<\/strong>: academic at Kent Law School and practising barrister, Doughty Street Chambers<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clare Hamilton: <\/strong>Deputy Head, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jayne Instone<\/strong>: Employability and Career Development Officer, Kent Law School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The evening will begin at 6pm in Keynes Lecture Theatre 5 (KLT5) and will be followed by a drinks reception from 7.30pm to 8pm,\u00a0 providing an opportunity for networking and informal discussion.<\/p>\n<p>The event is open to undergraduate students, postgraduate taught and research students and all those interested in exploring a career in international law.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/cecil\/index.html\">CeCIL<\/a>\u00a0is an innovative research centre which aims to foster critical approaches to the field of international law, and other areas of law that touch upon global legal problems. It offers a regular annual programme of activities for Kent Law students including an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/news\/index.html?view=2314\">annual lecture<\/a> (which this year is being delivered by Professor Vasuki Nesiah on Thursday 23 March.)
