{"id":2299,"date":"2017-03-07T14:47:16","date_gmt":"2017-03-07T14:47:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=2299"},"modified":"2017-03-16T10:32:55","modified_gmt":"2017-03-16T10:32:55","slug":"brussels-colloquium-on-uks-future-relationship-with-eu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/brussels-colloquium-on-uks-future-relationship-with-eu\/","title":{"rendered":"Brussels colloquium on UK\u2019s future relationship with EU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The future of the UK\u2019s relationship with the EU will be the topic of discussion at a colloquium to be held on Friday 17 March at Kent\u2019s centre in Brussels.<\/p>\n<p>The colloquium, entitled \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/files\/2017\/03\/brussels_colloquium_programme_17March2017.pdf\">New bi-lateralism? \u2018Prospectives\u2019 for future UK-EU relations<\/a>\u2019, will be chaired by Dean for Medway (and Kent Law School Professor) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/academic\/Grief,_Nick.html\">Nick Grief<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/brussels\/\">Brussels School of International Studies<\/a> and will take place from 09.00 to 13.00 (CET) with registration beginning at 08.30 (CET).<\/p>\n<p>The keynote presentation on \u2018Brexit &#8211; the state of play: what do we know and where might we go?\u2019 will be delivered by Professor Richard Whitman, Head of Kent\u2019s School of Politics and International Relations (and Director of the Global Europe Centre) at 09.10 (CET).<\/p>\n<p>Other\u00a0distinguished <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/files\/2017\/03\/brussels_colloquium.pdf\">guest speakers<\/a> will focus on three sectors of crucial importance for 21st century economies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>09.50 &#8211; 11.30 (CET) Sector 2: Energy: power markets and renewables<\/strong>\u00a0Leonard Hawkes, Solicitor (Juriste Conseil) DBB Law<\/li>\n<li><strong>11.30 &#8211; 12.10 (CET) Digital markets<\/strong>\u00a0John Higgins CBE, Director General of DIGITALEUROPE, which represents the digital technology industry in Europe<\/li>\n<li><strong>12.10 &#8211;
