Kent Law School is ranked as one of the top 20 law schools in the UK in all three major subject league tables for 2017 following the publication of The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide<\/a><\/em> this weekend.<\/p>\n

The latest national university ranking places Kent Law School 14th<\/sup> out of 100 law schools in the UK, drawing on criteria that include student opinion on teaching quality, the outcomes of the 2014 research assessments, graduate job prospects, and course entry standards. Within these criteria, the Law School is ranked 8th<\/sup> overall in the UK for its quality of research.<\/p>\n

Kent is consistently rated as one of the leading law schools in the UK; earlier this year the School was ranked 15th<\/sup> in the UK in The Guardian University Guide <\/em>2017 and 19th<\/sup> in the Complete University Guide 2017. Kent is one of only 12 UK law schools that is placed in the top 20 of all three league tables (a position shared by only 10 out of 24 Russell Group universities). The School is also ranked among the top 150 institutions in the world for Law in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2016 (and is ranked 19th out of a total of 30 UK law schools that made the global list of top 200 institutions.)<\/p>\n

Our graduates have excellent employment prospects; The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide <\/em>2017 places Kent Law School 11th<\/sup> in the UK for graduate prospects. Earlier this year the School was ranked 5th nationally for the percentage of graduates (87%) who progress into graduate-level jobs or further study, within six months of graduation (The Guardian University Guide<\/em> 2017).<\/p>\n

The School\u2019s world class academic standing for research quality was also confirmed in the most recent Research Excellence Framework<\/a> (REF) 2014 when it was ranked 8th in the UK for research intensity, 7th for research power and in the top 20 for research output, research quality, and research impact.<\/p>\n

This year’s National Student Survey<\/a> (NSS) figures, released in August, revealed that 91% of final year undergraduate students were satisfied overall with their course at Kent Law School. The School scored particularly well in respect of its teaching quality with more than 90% of students agreeing that staff are good at explaining things and are enthusiastic about what they are teaching.\u00a0 Within the NSS results for overall satisfaction, it can be seen that Kent Law School would rank\u00a08th<\/sup> amongst the collection of Russell Group universities, 8th<\/sup> amongst the universities in London and the South East and 4th<\/sup> amongst its institutional peer group (which includes Durham, East Anglia, Essex, Exeter, Lancaster, Leicester, Reading Surrey, Sussex and York.)<\/p>\n

Commenting on the results, Head of Kent Law School Professor Toni Williams said: ‘These great results confirm that, according to students, who are the School\u2019s most important critics, Kent Law School remains one of the very best places in the UK in which to study law.’<\/p>\n
