{"id":1694,"date":"2016-06-13T12:28:59","date_gmt":"2016-06-13T11:28:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=1694"},"modified":"2016-06-13T12:28:59","modified_gmt":"2016-06-13T11:28:59","slug":"five-day-festival-for-the-kent-interdisciplinary-centre-for-spatial-studies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/five-day-festival-for-the-kent-interdisciplinary-centre-for-spatial-studies\/","title":{"rendered":"Five-day festival for the Kent Interdisciplinary Centre for Spatial Studies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A five-day festival organised by the Kent Interdisciplinary Centre for Spatial Studies (KISS) begins today with a public lecture and workshop by one of the world\u2019s leading anthropologists, Professor Didier Fassin.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Fassin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/news\/society\/10039\/international-expert-considers-the-growth-of-prison-as-punishment\">lecture<\/a>, entitled \u2018The Carceral Condition in a Punitive Time\u2019, begins at 3pm in the Templeman Lecture Room.<\/p>\n<p>Other events taking place this week have been organised by KISS in collaboration with Schools across both the Canterbury and Medway campuses. Events include: a training course offering an introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) on Wednesday 15 June; an innovative soundwalk, listening event, and film screening on Thursday 16 June at Medway; and a Medieval and Early Modern Studies (MEMS) Festival at Canterbury on Friday 17 June.<\/p>\n<p>A copy of the full programme is available to download below \u2013 please note that some events require registration but all are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Members of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sac\/research\/research-centres\/kiss-secondary.html\">KISS<\/a> are drawn from across the faculties at Kent including more than 30 members from Kent Law School. Other Schools involved with KISS include the School of Anthropology and Conservation, Kent School of Architecture, the School of English, the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research, the School of Arts, the School of European Culture and Language, the School of Music and Fine Art, the School of Economics and the School of Politics and International Relations.
