{"id":1579,"date":"2016-05-09T10:18:48","date_gmt":"2016-05-09T09:18:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=1579"},"modified":"2016-05-09T10:18:48","modified_gmt":"2016-05-09T09:18:48","slug":"call-for-papers-and-panels-for-critical-legal-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/call-for-papers-and-panels-for-critical-legal-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers and Panels for Critical Legal Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/research\/clc-2016\/papers.html\">Call for Papers and Panels<\/a> has been issued for the UK&#8217;s annual Critical Legal Conference, a gathering of international legal scholars to be held at Kent in September 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/research\/clc-2016\/index.html\">Critical Legal Conference<\/a>\u00a0(CLC) attracts critical and radical legal scholars from all over the world. This year&#8217;s conference, Turning Points, is hosted by a team of scholars from Kent Law School and will take place from 1-3 September.<\/p>\n<p>Law Lecturer Nick Piska, a member of the organising CLC committee, said: \u2018The Critical Legal Conference 2016 will open a forum for critical reflection on precarious political situations, particularly that of Europe in a global context \u2013 an apposite theme for a critical conference at the University of Kent, \u2018the UK\u2019s European University\u2019 and a point of origin for the CLC.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Organisers hope participants will bring a rich plurality of critical and radical thematics and interdisciplinary approaches to the conference streams which include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>After Christian Law? Contesting Law\u2019s Christianity, Contemplating Alternatives<\/li>\n<li>Biopolitics and Deconstruction<\/li>\n<li>Blockchain Law<\/li>\n<li>The Crisis of Democracy in an Antipolitical Age<\/li>\n<li>A Crisis of the Liberal Vision of the Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights? Paper Proposals should include an abstract of no longer than 300 words and a brief author biography. Panel Proposals should include the panel title and rationale (of no more than 300 words) and abstracts and biographies for all participants in the panel.\u00a0The call closes on 1 July 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are also invited to curate screenings, performances, happenings and other creative formats at the conference.
