{"id":1486,"date":"2016-03-21T15:34:51","date_gmt":"2016-03-21T15:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/?p=1486"},"modified":"2020-03-20T23:07:22","modified_gmt":"2020-03-20T23:07:22","slug":"kent-mooters-triumph-in-inaugural-varsity-moot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/law-news\/kent-mooters-triumph-in-inaugural-varsity-moot\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent mooters triumph in inaugural varsity moot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A team of mooters from Kent Law Temple Society (KLTS) has triumphed in an inaugural varsity moot series against the student law society at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU).<\/p>\n<p>KLTS was awarded a shield for winning the competition at a special prize-giving evening attended by colleagues from CCCU and held at St Martin\u2019s Priory in Canterbury on Thursday. The KLTS team also scooped two \u2018best mooter\u2019 medals.<\/p>\n<p>Society President Joe Chambers said: \u2018The varsity moot series is a new addition to our calendar which I wanted to implement to build relations and to instigate a friendly rivalry with our friends down the hill. It also provides more mooting opportunities for Temple Society members.\u00a0I\u2019m so pleased that\u2019s it\u2019s been such a great success and, given the huge benefit to the employability of aspiring lawyers that mooting provides, would hope that it will go on to become a valued annual event in the KLTS\/CCCU calendar.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/klts.org\/\">Kent Law Temple Society<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0one of seven student societies at Kent\u00a0Law School. Sponsored by both Inner and Middle Temple, membership is open to all students at the University of Kent who wish to learn more about a career at the Bar.<\/p>\n<p>Members have access to a broad range of opportunities which include trips to the main London based Bar Professional Training Course providers (Bar Schools); The Supreme Court; The Royal Courts of Justice; the National Pupillage Fair; and many others. In addition, the Society also organises Bar talks and guest lectures, skills based workshops, in-house mooting competitions and other events throughout the academic year.
