However if we consider the changes more closely, we may find that they impact certain groups of people differently.<\/p>\n<p>An Equality Analysis focuses on the impact of a change on each of the protected characteristics and whether it is putting someone with one or many of the protected characteristics at an unfair disadvantage.<\/p>\n<p>By carrying out an Equality Analysis, the owner of the policy or process change will benefit from<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet-list\">\n<li>identifying areas of impact that \u00a0may not have been otherwise considered<\/li>\n<li>thinking of possible ways to mitigate any negative impacts<\/li>\n<li>a way to show how equality considerations have been considered and addressed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/equality-diversity-inclusivity\/edi-reports\/equality-analysis\">This New Toolkit<\/a> sets out the University\u2019s framework and guidance for undertaking an Equality Impact Analysis (EIA). It is designed to assist staff who will have to undertake an Equality Impact Analysis in the course of their work.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Changes being proposed through policy, strategy, committee papers, project<br \/>\nmanagement or other methods need to be analysed from an equality<br \/>\nperspective and the results considered <\/span><span class=\"fontstyle2\">before <\/span><span class=\"fontstyle0\">decisions are made.
