Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>EDI Forum\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A new<a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/l\/team\/19%3a05e588abf68a4b858dd4396792ae9f9b%40thread.tacv2\/conversations?groupId=88cbb0aa-486d-4f04-9280-162ae0c3049b&amp;tenantId=51a9fa56-3f32-449a-a721-3e3f49aa5e9a\"> EDI Forum Teams<\/a> site has been created for all staff and students &#8211; join the teams site to start talking Equality, Diversity and Inclusion<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\"><strong>What&#8217;s it&#8217;s Purpose <\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\">\u2018On-the-ground\u2019 group to provide an avenue for staff and students to raise issues, concerns, share best practise and ideas for improving EDI at Kent.<\/div>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\">Actions can be passed to the most appropriate steering group, or inter-sectional issues reported to the EDI strategy group.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\">Completed and in progress actions should be fed back from the relevant steering group to form an EDI forum report and the start of subsequent meetings.<\/div>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\"><strong>What are the Ground Rules <\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\">Please comply with the University IT Regulations <a title=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/is\/regulations\/it\/?tab=full-it-regulations\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/is\/regulations\/it\/?tab=full-it-regulations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IT Regulations &#8211; Information Services &#8211; University of Kent<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\">\n<p><strong>Behave respectfully<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t waste IT resources or interfere with others\u2019 legitimate use.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t behave towards others in a way that isn\u2019t acceptable in the physical world<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Active Bystander Staff Training\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>Staff Training &#8211; 3 dates available<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-tid=\"messageBodyContainer\">\n<div data-tid=\"messageBodyContent\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>The training will provide the skills to challenge unacceptable behaviour including those that have become\u00a0 normalised<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>A<strong> 90 minute virtual<\/strong> session\u00a0which will\u00a0include:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>A video demonstrating bystander apathy<\/li>\n<li>Specific references for the HE Sector<\/li>\n<li>References to high profile examples of inappropriate\/unacceptable behaviour<\/li>\n<li>Decision-making techniques to help people overcome fear and self doubt when faced with a challenging situation<\/li>\n<li>Assertiveness techniques to give them the confidence and tools to speak out, whether they are dealing with the challenge directly or calling for help from others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The session will include group discussion and interactivity and each\u00a0delegate will receive\u00a0an PDF\u00a0 \u2018Active Bystander\u2019 toolkit booklet, which contains the main techniques covered in the session.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>There are 40 places available on each session and they are bookable on <strong>Staff connect<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>All sessions will run from 14.00-15.30 on the <strong>28th April , 19th May and the 23rd June<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Staff EDI Rep Induction<\/h2>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>Staff &#8211; University Harassment Contacts are trained staff members who can be contacted for advice and support. Staff or students can choose to contact any of the Harassment Contacts and may prefer to speak to someone from a different department or section about intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive conduct or unwanted conduct of a sexual nature, for example.<\/p>\n<p>The EDI team would like a more diverse group of Harassment Contacts.
