What terrified me most was not the grand scale of you
\nIn fact I stood in awe of you
\nBut you blew me away, you let the winds of the oceans nearly carry me away
\nOh Erasmus bridge I wish it wasn\u2019t true
\nNow I\u2019m not sure to cross you
\nUnaware of what was to come
\nI stared blindly at your elegant form
\nStructurally confusing, you\u2019re not the norm
\nThe imbalance of your struts\/ties makes me question how tensed you are
\nWere you in equilibrium or was there an unknown pull on one side
\nI\u2019m really asking how do you stand
\nNonetheless you caught my eye, so I couldn\u2019t just pass you by
\nI never knew this about you before
\nBut you\u2019re 802 metres long and 139 high
\nI could have travelled the shard more than twice and still hadn\u2019t reached your length
\nI suppose you had to be twice that size to connect the rather huge divide
\nBetween the north and south side
\nBut why didn\u2019t Van Berkel, your creator consider
\nThat spans as long as yours, wouldn\u2019t be kind to little tourists, mere passer by
\nMaking a journey on the winds side
\nFrankly, you left us utterly exposed
\nOur clothes blew, our hair flews and some couldn\u2019t even move
\nYou let the sea throw its best gales our way and guess what?
\nYou won. You stole the day,
\nIt started so peacefully as your path led the way, blissfully unaware we stormed ahead
\nUntil that moment the very ground on which I stood,
\nYou shook, you moved
\nAs before I was never sure of your structural capability, now honestly I fear
\nYou\u2019re not as stable as your cables appear
\nI trusted you to carry me, can you carry the self-weight of you?
\nThat deflected shape must not have looked pleasant
\nIf the internal forces I was feeling from inside were relevant
\nDid you know it was possible? That the winds of your very Rotterdam were fiery
\nPotentially dangerous? I doubt you do, because something about you
\nYour sheer construction, history and fame pronounce you never knew
\nI apologise for my attack of you, first time experiences are never as easy as it seems
\nI judged you before I knew you,
\nI won\u2019t lie I\u2019ll definitely never cross you a second time, but you\u2019re worth the thought
\nOh swan, remain elegant graceful and architecturally beautiful<\/p>\n
