We are delighted to announce the introduction of the Kent School of Architecture and Planning\u2019s Foundation Year course from September 2023.<\/p>\n
The dynamic and practical programme is specially designed to prepare students for the study of creative subjects at degree level and will offer a broad and cross disciplinary approach that reflects current practice and thinking. Uniquely the course also contains a sustainability component, through which students are asked to consider their chosen pathway in the context of climate change.<\/p>\n
Taught by practitioners from a range of creative disciplines, and delivered in the new Marlowe studios, the central emphasis of the course is on experimental, speculative, and open-ended working. Structured around three stages, students will gradually move towards a chosen pathway, gaining and developing key practical, academic, and professional skills in the process.<\/p>\n
Through a mix of individual and group work, students will have the opportunity to develop key skills through practice, drawing, writing, photography, video, problem solving, and contextual analysis in order to build a personal portfolio and identify individual areas of interest for further study. Each stage will culminate in a group exhibition, organised, staged, and publicised by the students.<\/p>\n
