Pioneering designers such as George and Robert Stephenson, Thomas Telford and Isambard Kingdom Brunel created Britain&#8217;s rich bridge heritage that features many world firsts and we can learn much from their ground-breaking design.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/architecture-planning\/people\/3300\/yee-ronald\">Ronald Yee<\/a> is an experienced bridge architect; this book introduces the importance of aesthetic consideration in the design of bridges and the value of learning from the past. A selection of over 250 photographs and illustrations outlines the evolution of British bridges and highlights the significance of key architectural examples that will be appreciated by both experts and students.<\/p>\n<p>Ronald says, &#8220;I was commissioned by Crowood Press and it took just over a year of cycling around the UK and staying in youth hostels to research, photograph and write this book.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Written for both experienced architects and bridge enthusiasts, this book offers a contemporary overview of how the best of British bridges marry aesthetic considerations with engineering ingenuity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lecturer, Ronald Yee, has recently published his new book, The Architecture of British Bridges, in January 2021.
