{"id":3768,"date":"2020-12-08T15:31:42","date_gmt":"2020-12-08T15:31:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ksa\/?p=3768"},"modified":"2020-12-08T15:31:42","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T15:31:42","slug":"phd-student-christopher-moore-elected-as-a-guardian-of-the-society-for-the-protection-of-ancient-buildings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ksa\/2020\/12\/08\/phd-student-christopher-moore-elected-as-a-guardian-of-the-society-for-the-protection-of-ancient-buildings\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD student Christopher Moore elected as a Guardian of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent School of Architecture and Planning are pleased to announce that PhD Candidate and Building Conservation Accredited Chartered Surveyor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/architecture-planning\/people\/3299\/moore-christopher\">Christopher Moore<\/a>, has been elected as a Guardian of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spab.org.uk\/\">Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings<\/a> (SPAB).<\/p>\n<p>Elected for a three-year term and appointed to the central Casework Committee, Christopher will jointly be overseeing all historic building projects that are going through planning that involve a degree of demolition, which special regard to any buildings constructed before 1720.<\/p>\n<p>SPAB is Britain\u2019s oldest building conservation charity and one of the Government\u2019s six National Amenity Societies that provide advice to the planning inspectorate for any projects that materially alter a listed building which may comprise or include the demolition of any part of that building. It was set up by William Morris in 1877 to oppose the destructive restorations of the Victorian era and promote the alternative of \u201cconservative repair\u201d. There are eight committees within SPAB who oversee all areas of the charity\u2019s work.
