{"id":1996,"date":"2017-10-26T14:01:16","date_gmt":"2017-10-26T13:01:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ksa\/?p=1996"},"modified":"2017-10-26T14:22:32","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T13:22:32","slug":"case-open-lecture-visualisation-of-sound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ksa\/2017\/10\/26\/case-open-lecture-visualisation-of-sound\/","title":{"rendered":"CASE Open Lecture: &#8216;Visualisation of Sound&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The next CASE Open Lecture will be given by Ze Nunes from MACH Acoustics on Tuesday 7th November at 6PM in Marlowe Lecture Theatre 1.<\/p>\n<p>Ze is the Founding Director of MACH Acoustics.\u00a0 He is passionate about the role of acoustics in improving the built environment and committed to sustainability as a fundamental principle of good design.\u00a0 A proven innovator, he relishes the interdisciplinary challenges of great architecture, always ready to break with convention in the quest for better answers, a combination that has seen MACH Acoustics win countless jobs with the largest contractors and most celebrated architects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Acoustics and low carbon buildings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What if we could see how sound behaves how it enters and moves around a building?<\/p>\n<p>Would this help us design greener better buildings?<\/p>\n<p>Acoustics can be challenging to grasp because we cannot \u2018<em>see\u2019<\/em> sound.\u00a0 When assessing a building\u2019s thermal performance, thermal imaging clearly shows the impact of di\ufb00erent design solutions.<\/p>\n<p>MACH are greatly innovative, applying clever visuals and creative thinking to explain the unintuitive nature of acoustics. Modelling and visual representations of sound are shown to deliver truly clever, beautiful buildings.<\/p>\n<p>This talk takes a \u2018David Attenborough approach\u2019 to inspire and inform designers, by visualising sound.
