Professor of Sustainability in Architectural Heritage, Henrik Schoenefeldt, will be presenting at the upcoming Parliament Buildings Conference, convened by The Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) and UCL European Institute (EI), taking place virtually on the 12 – 13 November 2020. The conference, organised by Sophia Psarra of The Bartlett, and Uta Staiger and Claudia Sternberg of the EI, and supported by UCL Grand Challenges, Cultural Understanding, will examine the architecture of power, accountability, and democracy in Europe.
Professor Schoenefelt will be presenting his paper, The Ephemeral Architecture of Socio-Environmental Practices in the Houses of Parliament, 1836 – 2020, at the conference. The paper is based on Henrik Schoenefeldt’s AHRC funded research project, Between Heritage and Sustainability, investigating the Houses of Parliament’s historic ventilation system within the Palace of Westminster Restoration and Renewal programme. This paper builds on the initial findings undertaken in parliament between 2016 – 2019, and on his ongoing research into design and history of socio-technical practices inside the House of Lords.
