The University of Kent, and our practitioner community, are delighted to partner with the Royal Town Planning Institute which has accredited the Kent School of Architecture and Planning and the University’s MA Urban Planning & Resilience. This is a one-year (full-time) or two-year (day release/part-time) programme that combines the fundamental skills of professional planning with a holistic approach to well-planned and resilient development.
The University of Kent’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Karen Cox, said: ‘Partnership with the Royal Town Planning Institute is a significant step forward for the University of Kent, and will strengthen the ability of our graduates to plan the prosperous places and vibrant communities that we need as a nation.’
The University of Kent’s Hon. Professor of Planning Practice, Steve Quartermain CBE (former Chief Planner of the UK Government) said: ‘I am delighted to celebrate the establishment of an accredited course for planners at the University of Kent. A well-resourced profession is essential for the delivery of well-planned and sustainable places. Planning is a great career choice and whether students are part or full time, this course gives them the foundation for the future.’
Victoria Hills, Chief Executive of the Royal Town Planning Institute said: “This accreditation is an important milestone for both the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Kent School of Architecture and Planning, with the recognition of a new RTPI Planning School providing the highest standard of planning education. We call on Chartered Town Planners to consider applying for the newly created Senior Lecturer in Planning post at the university to support students develop their core knowledge and skills.
