System Development

The automatic integration with Agresso (our finance system) is planned for Monday 29th June, which may slow the system and cause some disruptions to the KRIMSON end users.  Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you.

If you have any questions, please contact the KRIMSON team: krimson@kent.ac.uk

Principal Investigators will now be able to add documents in KRIMSON for Statutes from ‘Draft’ to ‘for Funder Submission’

We have received a number of requests where Principal investigators (PIs) wanted to add documents within KRIMSON in any Statuses.

In response to the feedback we have made this improvement and from now PIs will be able to add documents in all of these Statuses: ‘for RS/KIE update’, ‘for School approval’, ‘for RS/KIE approval’, ‘for University approval’ and ‘for Funder Submission’.

KRIMSON planned maintenance

The system maintenance is planned for 24th March 2015, from 7am to 8am. Please do not access the system during this time. Any changes saved during this time might be lost.

We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause.

KRIMSON to be Upgraded to Converis v5.5.5

The system was upgraded to Converis v5.5.6!

In preparation to successfully implement KRIMSON’s next Phase (integration with KAR), a KRIMSON system upgrade is scheduled on 16th February 2015 at 8 am UK time. The upgrade might take up to 2 hours.

The changes are more aesthetic, functionality remains the same.

  • ‘Whole name’ display – When a KRIMSON user logs in as a ‘Researcher’, this new version will display his/her ‘whole name’ rather than the ‘preferred name’ in the Dashboard. However, it is your ‘preferred name’ that will be displayed in the list of all applications. This has been raised as a potential issue with the supplier.

  • Icons have been replaced with words to make the system more intuitive.

KRIMSON goes LIVE University wide

The KRIMSON system is now LIVE University wide for pre award management.

Any new project ideas or applications should be input into KRIMSON for subsequent approval instead of using the current paper internal approval form.

LIVE Update

The pilot phase has been running for 7 weeks now with SECL, KLS and EDA entering their project applications into the KRIMSON system.

In preparation for the university wide go-live in August, the KRIMSON project team are currently busy visiting each school to introduce the system, share the implementation plans and obtain initial feedback.

Check the ‘Communications’ page to find out when we will be coming to your school.

KRIMSON goes LIVE!

After a period of extensive system testing, KRIMSON went live for Research Services and Kent Innovation and Enterprise on 17th April and a week later for the three pilot schools – Kent Law School, Engineering & Digital Arts and School of European Culture & Languages.

During the next 3 months, feedback on the user experience will be sought in order to identify and implement any necessary changes prior to the university wide go-live in July.

Initial training sessions with the three schools have already taken place. For those who have not yet attended and have an impending application deadline coming up, further 1 hour sessions are scheduled for every Wednesday afternoon at 2pm.  Sessions are limited to 10 users so if you wish to attend, please email krimson@kent.ac.uk to book a place.

KRIMSON supplier acquired by Thomson Reuters

The software company behind the new KRIMSON system, Avedas, has recently announced it has been acquired by Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals.

This can only mean good news for the University of Kent as the acquisition will allow Avedas to further invest in innovation and grow their offerings – ensuring that we receive the most comprehensive solution to meet our research management needs.

Phase 1

Phase 1 of the KRIMSON system implementation is due to commence in Spring 2014 with a pilot of the pre and post award workflow.  The schools selected to participate in this pilot are Kent Law School, School of Engineering and Digital Arts and the School of European Culture and Languages.  The pilot is expected to commence in March 2014 and will run through until June 2014. Upon successful completion and with feedback from the pilot, phase 1 is planned to go live University wide in July 2014.
