Last Friday I attended the launch of the first edition of the Kent Student Law Review<\/a> (KSLR).\u00a0 KSLR is a student-led initiative that provides a platform for Kent Law School\u2019s students to publish their work.<\/p>\n

I would encourage anyone interested in applying for an LLM at Kent to have a look at the KSLR.\u00a0 The first edition contains a wide variety of articles on topics including assisted suicide, climate change, asylum, foreign investment law, trade mark law and legal ethics. KSLR is a great demonstration of the work produced by Kent\u2019s students and is reflective of the culture and ethos of KLS.\u00a0 The articles are diverse in both the topics they cover and the theoretical approaches undertaken by the authors.\u00a0 They contain perspectives that can be described as socio-legal, philosophical, ethical and, most importantly, critically engage with current issues.\u00a0 As a result of having been peer-reviewed by students and academics at KLS, the submissions are of a very high standard.<\/p>\n

It seems fitting that such an exciting initiative is launched whilst\u00a0University of Kent celebrates its 50th<\/sup> anniversary.\u00a0 During my first few weeks of study at KLS I have been struck by the enthusiasm of the law students and the support their ideas receive from staff at KLS.\u00a0 This is a great opportunity \u2013 especially for those who are considering an academic career and are interested in undertaking legal research.\u00a0 It will be very interesting to see how the KSLR develops and I look forward to reading the next edition.<\/p>\n
