Dialogue and Networks: Responses and Challenges to Power and Injustice

Call for papers

The third annual KLS Graduate Research Conference will explore the impact of research in challenging various forms of power and injustice and generating social change. The conference will bring together a wide variety of academic perspectives to provide a forum for conversations about contemporary social injustice. The KLS Graduate Conference Committee invites all postgraduate students from social sciences and humanities backgrounds to submit an abstract. Participants will have the opportunity to network with their fellow colleagues and discuss their ongoing research in an interdisciplinary setting.

Submission of proposals for papers, posters, panels, and roundtable discussions

The Committee welcomes papers that address the theme of the conference from various academic perspectives including law, sociology, anthropology, criminology, politics, international relations, philosophy, ethics, literature, history, economics, social policy, psychology and film. Abstract submissions should be no longer than 300 words. The Committee also welcomes applications from participants seeking to showcase their work in the conference’s poster display. Participants will have the opportunity to display their poster in the foyer of Eliot College and will be able to discuss their research with attendees of the conference. Please submit an abstract of no longer than 300 words outlining the research the poster will present. The Committee encourages proposals of up to 300 words for small panels and roundtable discussions.

All submissions should be accompanied with the following details: name of applicant, name of institution and contact details. Submissions should be sent to lawgradconference@kent.ac.uk no later than Tuesday 7th April 2015. All submissions will be reviewed and successful applicants will be notified shortly.

We hope to offer a limited number of bursaries of up to £100 per person for those wishing to attend the conference who require financial assistance or are travelling from outside the UK. To apply for the bursary please send a CV and a brief statement outlining the need for assistance to lawgradconference@kent.ac.uk.
