International Women’s Day

An equal world is an enabled world. #EachforEqual

Sunday 8th March sees International Women’s Day. The theme for this year is #EachforEqual. We actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world. Equality is not a women’s issue, it’s a business issue. Gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive. A gender equal world can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious – so what’s not great about that?*

We asked the Innovation and Enterprise Director, Carole Barron, what international women’s day means to her. She said:

“I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights is aligned with UN Women’s new multigenerational campaign.  The UN’s campaign seeks to remove the systemic barriers that hold women back from equal participation in all areas of life, whether in public or in private.

We can’t do this alone, it will require global unity to effect change. The University launched the Inspire, Challenge, Excel programme to help women achieve their goals, in whatever they want to do in the future. We all have to play a part in supporting women along their journey, wherever it takes them”.

Look out for out next Inspire, Challenge, Excel conference in September 2020!
