Experts from the University are working with their counterparts at Eurostar to help them better prepare for changes to their stations and services.
Under a Knowledge Transfer Partnership, a scheme which brings businesses and academics together, Kent simulation researchers helped the company develop digital models of its stations in London and Paris. These now form a core part of the Eurostar’s planning process, allowing them to test the knock-on effect of changes to service delivery such as the potential impact of different passport queues after Brexit. The two-year project will now move on to developing models of Eurostar rail fleet, with the work designed to improve efficiency and reduce disruption when making changes.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are one of a range of ways in which University experts link up with national and local businesses to offer practical advice based on their research.
