A Masterclass in Functional Assessment for Challenging Behaviour in Adults & Children with Developmental Disabilities.
At the heart of positive behaviour support for challenging behaviour is the need to understand why, where and when such behaviour happens. Functional assessment helps clarify our understanding of the message behind challenging behaviour. This one day interactive, informal and interesting workshop will provide examples of how we verify our understanding, and how we take this information forward toward designing person-centred support strategies.
We will explore analysis of records, direct observations, as well as questionnaire methods, and how we craft summary statements concerning challenging behaviour. We will then consider possibly support strategies and their implementation. We will provide you with example case studies.
This workshop will be invaluable to those involved in behaviour support for children or adults with autism or intellectual disabilities whose behaviour flummoxes or challenges those around them.
