The University of Kent’s Commercialisation team have partnered with specialist technology investor, NCL Technology Ventures, to deliver a 2-day training course for academics looking to turn their research into a spin-out or start-up in the MedTech, Life Science or Healthcare sectors.
An academic spin-out is a company created off the back of university-owned research and intellectual property. Whilst they can be challenging and time-consuming to establish, commercialising research and innovations with investment from a venture capitalist can be financially rewarding and ensure your research makes a real impact.
The upcoming training is an opportunity for academics with an idea for a spin-out company to find out more about the investment process straight from an investor with a wealth of experience in developing market leading businesses. Over the course of two days, attendees will learn about the investment pathway from seed to exit and the many factors they need to consider to get investment ready.
The course will take place from 9:30am – 5pm on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 June in the Sibson Building on our Canterbury campus. Spaces are limited so we recommend that you register your place soon on our Eventbrite page.
This is a one-off opportunity, offered as part of NCL’s 3-year South-East Innovation Programme which aims to encourage medical innovation within the South-East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) area in partnership with Maidstone Borough Council (MBC). The programme is part funded by the European Union Regional Development Fund 2014 – 2020.
