One day you are packing up your belongings with all the excitement and anticipation of what the next few years will bring, then suddenly you’re reminiscing about those fond years and wondering how you’re a fully-fledged adult already – (scary thought I know!) So, before you let those wonderful years flash before your eyes, consider what you can do to really make the most of the time, not to mention the money!

1. Get Involved.

There are so many opportunities at university to not only get involved with academic things, but also fun, sociable things. If you are passionate about what you study and want to inspire future generations then why not become a Student Ambassador?. Not only does it look great on your CV, it allows you to get to know the staff (always a bonus) and keeps you motivated, as it reminds you of all the reasons you chose to go to uni. If it is an escape from the academia and a wider circle of friends you’re after, than joining a society could be the answer. At Kent we offer a mind-boggling number of societies; you might not want to limit yourself to just one. Joining a society will help you make friends, ensure you always have a social event in your calendar, and give you a new hobby.

2. Reach out.

By this I mean don’t be afraid to communicate. You might find that there is an aspect of your course you are particularly struggling with. In this case, reach out to your tutors for help; it is what they are there for. On the other hand, you may find you’re doing really well but someone else may be struggling. Why not set up a study group? Not only will this help them, it will help you to better yourself and you can get to know your course mates.

3. Schedule.

In order to really make the most of your experience, an efficient schedule can make sure you manage your time so that your work life does not get in the way of your social life and vice versa. Of course, you are there to study, but you are also there to make invaluable memories.

4. Stay in the loop.

At university there is always something going on, the hubbub never stops! So, in order to not miss out, you are going to want to stay connected for the latest news. Whether it is from adverts on campus, via email or through the university website and calendar, you can keep yourself posted on upcoming events that will help make sure you have the full university experience.

5. Student Discount

Although money will no doubt be tight whilst at university, make the most of that student discount! It is one of the biggest perks of being a student and I have no doubt you will miss it when it’s gone.

Most importantly: make memories, take pictures and enjoy!

This post is by Becky Rye.

Whether you’re planning to do a three-year degree course or four, or you have your sights set on a Master’s degree and beyond; the time … Read more

[9871
5349,8814,8834,37,37045,205706,143768,74
