{"id":96,"date":"2013-05-09T13:37:49","date_gmt":"2013-05-09T12:37:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/?p=96"},"modified":"2013-05-09T13:39:44","modified_gmt":"2013-05-09T12:39:44","slug":"kent-sport-hosts-annual-inter-college-football-old-boys-tournament-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/kent-sport-hosts-annual-inter-college-football-old-boys-tournament-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Sport hosts annual Inter College Football \u2018Old Boys\u2019 tournament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0May saw <a title=\"Kent Sport\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sports\" target=\"_blank\">Kent Sport<\/a> host their annual Inter College Football \u2018Old Boys\u2019 tournament, where alumni and current students compete in a 5-a-side format of the game.<\/p>\n<p>The Canterbury campus welcomed back seventeen alumni teams from as far back as ten years ago, with \u2018Old Boys\u2019 making up the majority of the twenty two overall entries.<\/p>\n<p>The final was an all Keynes (F.C.) college affair, with the League Champions of 2006-07 and 2009-10 competing for the Cup. The class of 2009-10 ran out eventual winners with a 1-0 victory (goal scored by Luke Phillips), having played the whole competition with only five players and no substitutes. Matthew Johnson (Keynes F.C.) won\u00a0<i>Player of the Tournament<\/i>\u00a0with Dom Beattie (Park Wood Rangers) winning the\u00a0<i>Rolling Back the Years\u00a0<\/i>award for his nostalgic antics!<\/p>\n<p>Thanks must be extended to event partners Kent Hospitality and Kent Union, as well as the Kent Sport staff who all helped to make the day a big success.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 538px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"   \" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/files\/2013\/05\/Old-Boys-Keynes-FC-Winners.jpg\" width=\"538\" height=\"403\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Old Boys tournament winners 2013<br \/>L-R: Ross Holland, Rich Taylor, Matthew Johnson (Captain), Ryan Waterman, Edmund Cox, Jamie Marshall.
