{"id":8042,"date":"2024-06-12T15:44:56","date_gmt":"2024-06-12T14:44:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/?p=8042"},"modified":"2025-10-28T09:44:05","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T09:44:05","slug":"vice-chancellors-cup-highlights-pub-games-at-the-boom-battle-bar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/vice-chancellors-cup-highlights-pub-games-at-the-boom-battle-bar\/","title":{"rendered":"Vice Chancellor&#8217;s Cup highlights: Pub Games at the Boom Battle Bar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Over 50 University of Kent staff made the journey down the hill to Canterbury\u2019s new Riverside Development, to enjoy a night of food, drinks and action-packed pub games, competing in crazy golf, darts, shuffleboard, and axe throwing. <span class=\"sp-mseditorfix\" data-mseditorfix=\"363d7011-83dd-4cc0-bdec-ea4af4df4dbb:Vieing\">Vying<\/span> for the Pub Games trophy teams had just 30 minutes allotted to each activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/files\/2024\/06\/81.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8044\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/files\/2024\/06\/81.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In the minigolf, scores ranged from 18 to 32, with the various obstacles causing havoc for most players. Innes scored the lowest score of the night, with an impressive 18 points, although we may need to review the CCTV to ensure his score was legitimate!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In the darts,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> there were some remarkable and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0less remarkable displays<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> but smiles and laughs all around.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Kent Union, RISistance is Futile, DoNATS, Back to the Future (Student) and Marlowe all topped their groups. Despite playing continuously for 2 hours, Sports Development <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Manager,<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Billy,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> finished last in both his groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Shuffleboard saw varied performances, with the main man, Dean, taking another hit for Sports Development and finishing 4th in both games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Time<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> for axe-throwing ace, Charlie Dast, to step up and save the honour of the Sports Development team, reportedly scoring the highest score of the evening. Again, we may need to check the CCTV on this one!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/files\/2024\/06\/80.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8045\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/files\/2024\/06\/80.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Pub Games was a hit and a new favourite in the VC&#8217;s Cup calendar<\/span>!
