{"id":457,"date":"2014-05-22T17:05:30","date_gmt":"2014-05-22T16:05:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/?p=457"},"modified":"2025-10-28T09:27:21","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T09:27:21","slug":"kent-sport-scholars-recognised","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/kent-sport-scholars-recognised\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Sport scholars recognised"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sports scholars from the University were congratulated for their outstanding achievements at a special event held at the Pavilion on the Canterbury campus on 13 May.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Twenty-three talented young sportsmen and women were congratulated as part of the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sports\/scholarships\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kent Sport Scholarship scheme<\/a>, which recognises and supports students who have competed at county, regional or international level and are committed to university sport.<\/p>\n<p>The students come from various sporting backgrounds and cover 21 different sports. Among their achievements are: selection for Kent County Cricket\u2019s 1st team and England under 19\u2019s team captain (Adam Ball); selection for England men\u2019s trampolining squad (Liam Abrahams); England Universities Football captain (Chris Kinnear); University of Kent Tennis Sportswoman of the year 2014 (Teele Annus); and selection in the GB Universities team for Ten Pin Bowling (Hannah Bratton-Smith).<\/p>\n<p>Mel Clewlow, Sports Development Manager at the University, said: \u2018Our sports scholars are prime examples of how commitment, dedication and hard work can help achieve fantastic results.
