{"id":3479,"date":"2017-06-12T15:17:42","date_gmt":"2017-06-12T14:17:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/?p=3479"},"modified":"2017-06-12T15:17:42","modified_gmt":"2017-06-12T14:17:42","slug":"soccerzone-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentsport-news\/soccerzone-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"SoccerZone Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday 2\u00a0June, eighteen\u00a0teams attended the final SoccerZone Cup of the year, Kent Sport\u2019s on campus 5 a-side football tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The eighteen\u00a0teams battled it out over the group stage to secure a place in the cup knockout stages with the bottom half of each group progressing to the plate knockout stages, think Champions league and Europa league.<\/p>\n<p>In the plate final, new team Woolf FC, from ICFL, faced AFC Spartans Reserves.<\/p>\n<p>Woolf FC had finished joint top in their group however a worse goal difference saw them progress into the plate competition. Spartans Reserves finished\u00a0fourth\u00a0in the same group with only one win.<\/p>\n<p>However, Spartans Reserves saved all their goal scoring prowess for the knock out stage, winning all their games including the final against Woolf FC.<\/p>\n<p>In the cup final, Ain\u2019t No Holebas Girl, from KAFL, faced Hold My Beer FC, also from KAFL. Ain\u2019t No Holebas Girl topped their group, conceding only one goal whilst Hold My Beer finished\u00a0second.<\/p>\n<p>However a dramatic final saw Hold My Beer walk away with another trophy after winning the KAFL plate final a week earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to all teams for making the final and Hold My Beer FC and AFC Spartans Reserves for\u00a0 walking away with the trophies.<\/p>\n<p>To see the 2017 Cup photos, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=a.1435575399842085.1073741945.171942899538681&amp;type=1&amp;l=98a5b65709\">Kent Sport Facebook<\/a>.
