Kent Sport recently welcomed back alumni Tony Sze who graduated in 2016 with an MSc in Advanced Computer Science. Tony returned to the Sports Centre to practice his archery in advance of the Indoor World Archery Cup in Nimes, 21 \u2013 22 January. Also with Tony was Bayley Sargeant who is on the GB (junior) team. Both are with the Canterbury Archery Club.<\/p>\n

During his time as a student at Kent Tony enjoyed being involved with the student archery club and a Gold member of Kent Sport. Since graduating, Tony now has had his sights set on becoming a professional archer.<\/p>\n

Tony said, \u201cIt was great to be back at the University of Kent and we appreciated the opportunity to practice at Kent Sport\u2019s excellent facilities; it was a real help in preparing for this event.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bayley Sargeant said, \u201cI would definitely encourage students at Kent to give archery a go. It can be fun to learn new skills and work at improving and achieving goals. It can be quite physical and require some endurance. It\u2019s also a great way to be social and make new friends. With the sports facilities available on campus this is the best time to try out new activities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also attending the competition in Nimes was Oliver Bourne, current Treasurer of the Kent student archery club.<\/p>\n

Following the competition Tony said, \u201cBayley ranked 7th in the qualification round, making the top 16 cut to move onto the head to head stages.\u00a0 As for myself, I managed to shoot my personal competition best so I am also pretty happy.\u00a0 It was an amazing experience, to speak to and learn (a lot) from some of the top archers in the world.\u00a0 Other archers from GB did very well too, bagging four medals, including one gold.\u201d The full results of the event in Nimes are here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
