Last week saw the University\u00a0Vice-Chancellor\u2019s Cup<\/a>\u00a0off to an exciting start with the\u00a0\u2018Gladiators, Ready\u2019 event. Having hosted a trial run during the 50th anniversary year celebrations, Kent Sport decided to incorporate the event into the 2016 Vice-Chancellor’s Cup schedule, and was met with keen competitors\u00a0from Kent staff across the Canterbury campus.<\/p>\n

Female and male representatives from 14 of the 16 teams descended on the Sports Centre\u2019s Main Hall, where the arena was set and Kent Sport Gladiators were waiting!<\/p>\n

Teams competed across six different events<\/a>, such as Hop Tough and Duel, to be crowned the winners of this bonus event. In the ladies category, Nobody Does It bEDA (School of Engineering and Digital Arts) took the overall spoils after conquering the likes of Sarah \u2018Siren\u2019 Kerly, Teele \u2018Lynx\u2019 Annus and Louisa \u2018Viper\u2019 Arnold from the Kent Sport Gladiators. The men came up against tough opposition in Jarek \u2018Pol-Hammer\u2019 Dzikowicz, Billy \u2018The Raptor\u2019 Radford and Dave \u2018Breadstick’ Burt, and it was Office Politics (School of Politics and IR) who emerged triumphant.<\/p>\n

Kent Sport’s scariest Gladiator, Jarek ‘Pol-hammer’ Dzikowic, says “I really enjoyed smashing those frightened faces- Anyone dares a rematch- Bring it on!!!!”<\/em><\/p>\n

All teams were competing for bonus points towards the overall Vice-Chancellor\u2019s Cup leader board<\/a> and for the hallowed \u2018Gladiators, Ready\u2019 trophy (courtesy of Dave Prior Designs).
