PhiGS is the University of Kent’s philosophy graduate society. We are run by and for philosophy graduates at the university, endeavouring to create and maintain a supportive community of inquirers, both at the academic and social level.
Our main activities involve organising both academic and social events, with the hope that graduate students in the department come to feel part of a supportive community in which they can talk freely about their research, and indeed about anything, without fear of a dismissive response. We value constructive dialogue, critical but not criticising analysis, and inclusivity.
Please use the links above to navigate to other portions of this site. The News link will take you a blog page where you will find our latest announcements, and the Events link will take you to pages concerning our academic events – the graduate research seminars and our annual colloquium.
Disclaimer: Kent PhiGS is completely unconnected with the Kappa Phi Gamma sorority in the USA. We apologise for any confusion due to a similarity in abbreviations.
