{"id":497,"date":"2018-10-04T09:23:34","date_gmt":"2018-10-04T08:23:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentlawclinic\/?p=497"},"modified":"2019-08-22T08:29:07","modified_gmt":"2019-08-22T07:29:07","slug":"kent-law-clinic-weekly-news-and-updates-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentlawclinic\/kent-law-clinic-weekly-news-and-updates-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly news and updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first regular interactive weekly Clinic meeting of the term on Tuesday enabled law students to gain a genuine insight into Law Clinic life and highlighted many ways in which students can become involved:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Over the course of the last week, there have been 60 telephone enquiries involving issues related to immigration, family, employment and housing law<\/li>\n<li>52 law students have begun casework for assessed credits as part of their year-long <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/modules\/module\/LW543\">Clinical Option Module<\/a> and so the Clinic has been busy taking on new cases. One of these new cases is being supe<span class=\"text_exposed_show\">rvised by Clinic Solicitor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/academic\/Gambling,_Vivien.html\">Vivien Gambling<\/a> &#8211; it involves a client who is being sued by their litigious landlord \u2013 clinic student George Hill is currently drawing up a defense and counter claim<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Clinic Solicitor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/academic\/Bruce,_Philippa.html\">Philippa Bruce<\/a> is planning an informal discussion of the issues raised in the film The Children Act at 4pm on Weds 10 October in the Clinic for any interested students<\/li>\n<li>Student Chair of the Clinic\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/kentlawclinic\/asylum-and-immigration-team\/\">Immigration and Asylum Team<\/a>, Jen, highlighted plans for asylum moots, guest speakers and more throughout the coming year<\/li>\n<li>Clinic students Kieran and Annie, and Clinic Director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/people\/academic\/Tegg,_Graham.html\">Graham Tegg<\/a>, introduced a new case which the Clinic is going to be taking on.
