KBS PhD Students Receive Management Science Awards

Our recently graduated Management Science PhD student, Dr Ming Luo, has been awarded the “2018 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad”.

The award, starting in 2003, was founded by the Chinese government with the purpose of rewarding academic excellence of self-financed Chinese students studying overseas. Only those with outstanding performance in their PhD studies are considered by the award selection panel and no more than 500 young talents will be granted the award each year all over the world. Congratulations to Ming and well done to Shaomin Wu and Ekaterini Panopoulou as the supervisory team!

Further success for Management Science PhD students came earlier this year when Jeeu Fong Sze (Yvonne), was awarded the Operational research Society Doctoral Award for her thesis titled “Hybridisation Search for a Class of Vehicle Routing Problems”. This annual award is for the ‘Most Distinguished Body of Research leading to the Award of a Doctorate in the field of OR‘. Jeeu Fong Sze was successfully supervised by Said Salhi and Niaz Wassan.
